Cinematography 2

One of the most impressive sequences in the film in terms of cinematography is the Blues Brothers’ visit to the orphanage

The camera switches to a close up shot of the ominous statue outside of the Penguin’s office which serves as a warning to Jake and Elwood that they are entering her domain and must abide by her rules.

The gag of doors closing by themselves occurs multiple times and adds humor by making the Penguin seem like a powerful supernatural force.

Low angle shots looking up the stairs are used to make Jake and Elwood seem tiny and powerless.

Another important part of the film is car culture

Jake and Elwood are constantly driving around in the Bluesmobile, as it allows them to continue their journey and escape enemies.

Because of the importance of cars, many of the best examples of cinematography in the film revolve around cars.
